Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello in Pictures

by | Jul 9, 2014

After celebrating the Independence Day (4th of July) I took some time to visit Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello. Inspirational and eye opening. I learned a lot of things, the most significant, to me was that Thomas Jefferson thought that an educated populace would be able to self govern. I’m pretty sure he never imagined that the government would get involved in that education. I’m also sure he wouldn’t support that centralized control.

One other thing I found noteworthy . . . when asked how he felt as he presented the Declaration of Independence to be approved he said “like I have a noose around my neck.” Think for a moment that Thomas Jefferson, one of our nations most significant forefathers was indeed a traitor (from England).

Here are some photos from Monticello, VA.
