Hummingbird Moth – The Big Pollunator

by | Jul 11, 2014

While visiting Monticello, VA recently I saw something that I had never before seen. After a bit of Photoshop work to highlight the insect in question I posted the images to Facebook and quickly found out (thanks to some wonderful connections) that I had seen my first Hummingbird Moth.

This little guy (although about 4x larger than the bees in the area) was pollinating along with the bees and was in a world of it's own. He/she allowed me to get within a few inches to snap some photos.
