Grand Rapids Hot Air Balloon Festival – 2015
We had a great time at the Grand Rapids Hot Air Balloon Festival at the Hudsonville Fair Grounds. Here are a few of the photos I captured . . .
The event was well attended – in fact I think the crowd exceeded the expectations of the event organizers as the wait for food and drinks was LONG! I know that after waiting nearly 20 minutes in line for a lemonade we elected to skip the even longer line of people waiting to purchase their night lanterns. That being said, the event was still great and we had a wonderful time as a family.
My youngest enjoyed the bounce house activities and absolutely loved watching the balloons inflate and take off! The Grand Rapids Hot Air Balloon Festival organizers put on a great show and topped it off with a wonderful show as darkness fell and over 15 ballooners poured the propane flame to their balloons . . . quite literally lighting up the evening (and casting a very warm (as in heat) glow too!)
Others around us said that last years Grand Rapids Hot Air Balloon Festival was on the other side of Grand Rapids in a smaller location and that the event had been moved to the Hudsonville Fair Grounds to better accommodate the expected crowds. I wouldn’t be surprised to see an even larger location next year . . . I’m sure that we will be returning! Great family fun and fantastic sights for everyone!!
